What is the difference between standard “ceramic” tile and porcelain tile?

Ceramic is made of red, white, or brown clay fired at a lower temperature. It’s not as pricy as porcelain, but it’s also more porous, so it’s less water-resistant. Porcelain, on the other hand, is a blend of white clay, sand, and feldspar. It’s also fired at a higher temperature. This makes it denser and more water-resistant as well as more expensive.

Can ceramic tile be used outdoors?

Yes, but we recommend choosing a tile that is frost-proof, unglazed, and has a very low absorption rate.
